Omoplatas in UFC 91
Just watched UFC 91. I’m not going to critique the fights and give my opinions, etc… There are a lot of other blogs and websites that do that.
What I will say though is that I was happy with some of the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu that was shown – in particularly the omoplatas. These techniques had me on the edge of my seat since I’ve been working on omoplatas on the mat a bit.
The omoplata that Hazelet did…damn!! That was one great technique!
The one that Dos Anjos was doing to Jeremy Stephens on the first round, that looked painful!! I didn’t get to see the rest of the Anjos – Stephens fight since the video streaming slowed down and stopped.
Now, an omoplata instructional from John Will:
I couldn’t find any MMA videos with omoplatas on them, maybe someone can make an MMA omoplata highlight video!

You are absolutely right. BJJ ruled the day starting with Demian Maia all the way until Bocek dominated Robinson.
I think more fighters are beginning to pick up on the fact that they have to be a little more creative with their Jiu-jitsu….

Yeah, which is good – and they’re learning how to apply it in MMA better too!
