BJJ Class 106 – Fate

I recently discovered Fate, a three year old computer game. It’s a super addicting Diablo clone that has taken too much of my sleep away from me. I’m not only drinking more coffee in the morning, but I’m also generally more tired throughout the day. So I was tired through the day, but not too tired for jiujitsu…

A brown belt led warm-ups and we did a handful of flow drills after some light jogging. For the techniques we went through, I paired with another white belt. We learned a technique we went through a few weeks ago. Well, the sweep was the same, but it ended in a collar (bow & arrow?) choke, an anaconda choke variation, or an armbar. I really hope I can remember this (or illustrate it) as I can really see myself adding the sweep to my game. I just have to remember it.

There was a few rounds of rolling after. In the last several weeks, I have felt my game improve and get better when compared to a baseline me-not-training for-months game. Lately, it’s felt like my jiu-jitsu is stagnating, stopped improving, and has just plain plateaued. I’m a firm believer that the most direct way to improve is by putting in more mat time, but unfortunately I just can’t do that since I’m still taking it easy for my shoulder. That sucks, but at least I’m not regressing.

So anyway,in the last few weeks I haven’t really been able to put up much of an offense against anyone but newbs – the best I could do is lead to a stalemate. Anyway, I was able to sweep a higher belt while rolling, my first sweep in months, I wanted to jump up and shout “haha, I did it!!” Of course I didn’t.

I’ve really got to get more mat and sleep time… one being on the BJJ mat and the other at home – not sleeping on the bjj mat (prolly due to being choked out)
