BJJ Class 155

No gi class.  I came to BJJ with a stiff neck and a sprained elbow.

Warm-ups then a side-control escape drill, then about 20 minutes of rolling.

The side control escape is the one where you get the outside arm underhook, protect your neck with your other arm hooked on your opponents bicep.  You may have to fight to get it.  Simultaneously you hipscape out, thrust your underhooked arm straight up, and push down with your arm hooked on the bicep.  This gets you off to the side, the perfect position with which to jump to your knees to take the back or do a reversal to gain side-control or mount.

Rolling was relatively short (compared to the rolling in some recent classes).

I noticed that my game needs work on:

  • passing the guards of shorter smaller people
  • Getting the deep half guard while protecting my arms and neck
  • Going for the armbar – I’m either too slow in getting it or too loose if I add some speed
  • And everything else too.

Anyway, in-laws are coming and I have to clean the apartment.  Also, I finally got a full-time job after several months of searching.

Ous.
