BJJ Class 154

Mid-week evening gi class.  A lot of new blue belts today.  A big congratulations to all who got promoted over the weekend!!

I joined the first class very late, but just in time for rolling.  The second class started as open mat, then we reviewed the sweep from the last class.  Then the class went back to open mat.  Toward the end of my two hour mark we started a king of the hill style pass versus sweep rolling.

That was very good training as our coach gave us a lot pressure.  I was a bit surprised as the people that I thought would sweep or pass me quickly didn’t and those who I thought wouldn’t did.

Anyway, here’s a bulleted list of random stuff I remembered and should:

  • I should study BJJ again.  When I was new to BJJ I scoured the internet, studied books, and thought jiu-jitsu very often.  Now the only time I think of BJJ off the mat is when I wash my gi at home…
  • I should do some sort of workout off the mats.  Lifting weights with a fork does not count
  • I need to be more proactive and assert my game more
  • I’m still trying (or failing) the same techniques I was trying for over a year.  Where’s the progression?
  • I really am such an introvert

Heh – several techniques I can think of that I’ve been trying and failing for almost three years now, so I wouldn’t worry about it. ;)

hmm – I guess you’re right, I’m not doing so bad then

      Thanks!
