training goals update

I haven’t trained much lately and I’m just coming back to training.  My goals process has really sucked lately.

March 2009 ended and I was able to train somewhat regularly.  I missed a few training sessions, but I went to most of them.

I had no goals for April 2009 since I didn’t train at all.  That was the month I got married and my parents visited for a month.

May 2009 is almost done and I’ve only trained once.  My goal is to not miss a class (I train twice a week) for the rest of the month.

I considered just putting an end to this whole monthly goal thing but realized that I actually do need it.  Sure, I don’t get to work on what I want to work on most of the time but it at least helps me to focus on something while training.  So I’ll keep doing it.  Even though I’m the one directing it, it’s giving me some direction.  There’s still so many things lacking in my BJJ that I’d like to work on all of them at once – and the goals do give me some focus.

And right now the biggest hole in my game is my whole game – from lack of training.  That’s my goal for the rest of May and likely for June too: My goal is to not miss a class.

:D That was your journal I suppose? Oh well, you’ve got be training right now or your martial art skill will be gone to waste. As the saying goes practice makes perfect but no practice at all is nothing.
