Just found out that Helio Gracie died today from Project Blue Belt. Here’s a Sherdog article for more info.
Helio Gracie was the founder of Gracie Jiu jitsu and very influential in both MMA and grappling. I never met or saw him in person, but like the hundreds of thousands (600,000?) of BJJ practitioners, I owe him a debt of gratitude for helping make BJJ what it is today.
