Big update to my Blogroll

hay rollEarlier this week I updated my blogroll.  I had wanted to do this way back when Caleb (of TheFightWorksPodcast.com), and then later Steve (of www.SteveBJJ.com), shared their list of blogs that they follow.

Unlike both of them, I don’t use Google Reader, I use Newsgator.  I use it because their older software allows me to read through the blogs I subscribe to in my fone offline.  Their newer program, as well as most of the other Windows Mobile programs out there don’t let you read blog posts offline, meaning you need to have an active internet connection to read them.  Since I do most of my reading underground in NY’s subways it’s important for me to be able to read them offline and on my phone.  Also, unlike other Windows Mobile programs that lets you read blogs offline, Newsgator synchronizes the feeds on my phone with an online RSS reader, which I use every now and then.  (I’m not affiliated with Newsgator in any way, I just really like using their RSS readers)

Anyway, I didn’t get to share my subscription blogroll before since I hadn’t figured out how to dynamically share only the Brazilian Jiu-jitsu and MMA blogs I read.  I did have a blogroll before, but it was a list I had to manually update and was usually outdated.  Now the list on the right sidebar is the actual list I read.  It’s created by Newsgator and will update automatically whenever I add or remove an RSS feed.

If there are any blogs you think I should check out, let me know in the comments.  There’s a few in there that haven’t been updated in awhile and a few that I’ve removed for various reasons or that they only had the summaries in the feed and not the whole text of the post (which I can’t get without a net connection underground).  If you want to get my list as an OPML file, download it here (after clicking on the link, save the page as a .OPML file).  Oh yeah, the OPML file is dynamically generated and will always be representative of the blogs I actually subscribe to, at the very moment you download it.

Also, I’ve added another section on my right sidebar, “Latest Posts From Blogroll”.  It displays the latest posts from all the blogs I subscribe to.  They aren’t articles I’ve highlighted or have handpicked to show, they are the actual latest posts from all the feeds combined.  If you made a post and it isn’t there, then either there have been newer posts published since or it just hasn’t updated yet.

So yeah, check it all out…
